Giving Hope and Joy to Those in Need About the "Giving Tree" "The Giving Tree" is St. Joseph's holiday gift distribution program. Our clients sign up in September, and we collect the names, ages, and clothing sizes for the family members. This year we are filling requests for 400 households. Kind people take the information and purchase gifts of new clothing, carefully shopping for the correct size, age, and gender. Gifts are collected and brought to the Giving Tree location. The Giving Tree will be be located at the Little Gym in Cranford (6 South Ave. West). Thank you to the Boyle Real Estate Group for the use of this wonderful space! Volunteers are needed... to help sort and organize the gifts. Hours of operation will be 12/1/19 until 12/16/19 from 10:00am - 4:00pm and 6:00am - 8:00pm. Please contact Judy Golden at [email protected] or 201-376-4262 if you would like to volunteer. New clothes/accessories for the Giving Tree can be brought directly to the Little Gym location during the above hours. We especially need adult hats and teenager appropriate pajamas (adult sizes but teen friendly!). After 12/16/19, please bring new clothing to St. Joseph's. Donations of new and gently used toys are welcome for the Annual Toy Sale on 12/15.
New toys are being organized by Little Flower Church in Berkeley Heights. Please contact the coordinator, Meghan Calichman at 201-874-4440 or [email protected] to make arrangements for delivery. Gently used toys, new and used books, and stuffed animals can be brought directly to St. Joseph's prior to 12/15. Some guidelines... We encourage toys and games that promote good values: educational toys, games that teach peace, respect for the earth and all people. We prefer baby dolls to Barbie dolls. Please, NO war toys or games that glorify violence. We want to give our children positive messages about themselves, other people, and all of God's creation. ![]() Mark your calendars for:
DECEMBER 3, 2019 St. Joseph is once again celebrating #GivingTuesday - the annual day of generosity when you can help make a big difference in the lives of our less fortunate sisters and brothers. This year, we have set a goal of raising $15,000 to fund 500 food bags for December. Also, please consider making a recurring gift of $30 per month to help a family all year long. Your #givingtuesday donation of $30 will provide a bag of food to a family. We distribute nearly 500 bags of food every month. The actual food costs around $10 per bag - but we also need to keep the lights on at the center, insure the site, fuel the van, etc. Thank you for your support and remember, even the smallest gift can make a big difference.
